Art Exhibition April 2010

From 23rd April to 25th one hundred and fifty visitors went through the doors of 3/1 Sunny Park, the home of Jane and Paul Carling, to view the watercolours, photographs, pottery and glass paintings of students and teachers, past and present of Future Hope in the first art exhibition to be opened to the public.

Although FH is perhaps known more for its achievements on the rugby field, any doubts about the success of this new venture were dispelled when almost all the paintings and other items were sold.

Whether it was the subtle Santiniketan watercolours of Binod, at present in NIFT studying Design and fashion, or the bold colours of Shyamal’s painted glass work, or the visionary and mystic landscapes of Chandan, the serpentine, Daliesque work of Nandita Mukherjee (Future Hope’s art teacher), the striking photographs of Madan and the work of the Future Hope Photography Club or even the bowls of the Mela potters, everybody was in agreement that the event was a winner.
The initial idea came from Jane Carling who came across a pile of watercolours by mistake and thought that the work could be sold to benefit FH. But, like Topsy, it just grew and soon a collection of artists with FH connections was gathered in.

We will definitely hold a similar exhibition in the future but you have been warned to be there early…..
