 Field Trip in Darjeeling

Two volunteer teachers and one full time teacher took Class 9B and high achievers in Class 8 up to Darjeeling for a Social Sciences-focused trip to Darjeeling on the third weekend in February.
Sixteen pupils went by sleeper to New Jalpaguri and then spent the eight hours on the Toy Train up to Darjeeling. While they were there they visited Darjeeling Zoo, the Himalayas Mountaineering Institute, a tea plantation, the botanical gardens and woke up at 4am to view the sunrise on Tiger Hill.

Circus Skills at Future Hope with Performers without Borders Circus skills at Future Hope
On 1st February there was a performance of circus skills by at least fifty students - the result of a month's hard slog and rehearsal with the members of Performers without Borders, a group who take circus skills to different parts of India. Among the tricks the children have mastered are juggling, unicycle, the diabolo, acrobatics, poi and hula hooping. An enthusiastic crowd cheered on the performers.

Republic Day at Future Hope Republic Day Future Hope

26th February was the celebration of sixty years of the Indian Republic. The guest of honour was Yenten Lama, Trustee and Head of HSBC, Eastern India. The Jai Hind was shouted before the Pledge was taken and the National Anthem sung. Then the school entered the Assembly Hall for a programme of Bengali song, Hindi and English speeches with some excellent dancing.

Girls House and Rowland Rd Boys went to the Royal Calcutta Turf Club to watch tentpegging and puissance show jumping; the weather was quite chilly and everybody wrapped up.
